Tech Terms

Below are the meanings of some terms that are frequently used on the site. We know that some of these terms are used on different websites where they may have different meanings, so we have created this section to clear up any confusion.

[ A ]

Ageless

A term for vampires who are turned and do not age. An incorrect term often used for these vampires is "immortal", however, ageless vampires are not immortal, as they can still die. They simply do not age.

Auto-vampirism

The drinking of one's own blood.

Awaken / Awakened / Awakening

The physical and mental changes that occur when someone awakens and discovers they are Otherkin. The awakening typically occurs during or shortly after the onset of puberty, but in some individuals it may take years to become obvious. In the case of Sanguinarians and Psi vampires, the person undergoing the awakening will be altered physically and mentally. For most Otherkin, however, there are no physical changes; they simply discover a name for something they have always been.

[ B ]

Blood Fetishist / Bloodist

Someone who is erotically attracted to the sight, taste or smell of blood, or the process in which it is extracted. They generally have no physical need to consume it. The blood is usually taken during sexual or fetish play, as in a bondage or domination situation.

Energy Signature

The pattern of energy or energy 'fingerprint' that is unique to each individual. This can be sensed not only in the material/real world as a subtle body emanation, but also in the astral plane. Vampires have a particular kind of energy signature, and those who can pick up on this can identify them as vampires.

[ F ]

Feeding

The process of taking energy or blood from a human being.

[ G ]

[ H ]

Hunter

A person who stalks, threatens or causes harm to vampires, or to those who they believe are vampires. Hunters do not have to attack or physically harm their victims; often the emotional and mental distress of having someone like this hounding you is damaging enough.

A type of vampire that is born and awakens around the late stages of puberty. Inheritors have a life span of around 350 years.

Prana / Pranic Energy
